October is the tenth month calendars Gregorian and Julian.

Its name comes from the latin october (from octo, eight) because it was the eighth month of the old Roman calendar.

The October Revolution began in 1917 on October 25 (sometimes also called Red October) of the Julian calendar (used in Russian Orthodox tradition), on 7 November of the Gregorian calendar.

In most countries or regions of Europe which apply the DST on the last Sunday of October is the transition to winter time, that is to say the return on time Standard time zone. In some countries or regions of the southern hemisphere , this same Sunday is the transition to summer time.

In the Catholic religion, the month of October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and Guardian Angels.
