History

In 1852 , Louis Napoleon Bonaparte , then President, bought the estate at Villeneuve-l'tang. This area had once belonged to Marshal Soult during the First Empire and the Duchess of Angouleme. Once he became emperor, he built the pavilion Hundred guards for the imperial guard. In 1878 , the area becomes public domain. The castle was destroyed in the 1880s. The domain is assigned to the Department of Public Instruction and Fine Arts.

Part of the estate is granted to Louis Pasteur to continue his research after his discovery of the vaccine against rabies. The experiments require many rabbits and dogs and pet rue d'Ulm is saturated and interferes with the neighborhood. Pasteur then installs his lab in the pavilion of the Hundred guards. It plans to set up his Institute, but the success of its international subscription allows him to acquire land Dutot street in Paris and have it build the Pasteur Institute which was inaugurated in 1888.

It was one of the walking areas of the Empress Eugenie. The directors of cinema to come willingly to their exteriors on the lovely central square, bordered by a church and a miniature toy town hall. Heraldry, logo and motto

Weapons of Marnes-la-Coquette

They can emblazon thus: Gules a rabid dog head torn off and turned langued gold silver, accompanied by three crystal prisms of the same, two in chief, a peak, the chief azure charged with a French imperial eagle gold head bypassed, even encroaching on the thunderbolts (Second Empire).

In principle, the shield is always based on a chestnut fruit flanked by two silver oak trees uprooted englanti gold.

Mad dog's head symbolizes the work of Pasteur, who died at Marnes September 28, 1895. The imperial eagle is in memory of Napoleon III and Empress who by decree gave the epithet "the flirt" with marl. The chestnut oak and two on which rests the shield symbolize the forest of false-Reposes surrounding the joint .
